School Life

House System

A place to belong from day one

From the moment your child joins Rose Hill School, they become part of a vibrant house community. Their house will be a ready-made team that champions their progress, celebrates their efforts and gives them a sense of belonging that lasts throughout their time at the school.

A culture that
builds character

Your child learns to:
Work together across year groups
Show resilience and perseverance
Step outside their comfort zone
Lead, listen and contribute
Celebrate others’ achievements
This aligns closely with our Compass Curriculum and our five keys to success and happiness (confidence, organisation, perseverance, resilience and getting along), which sit at the heart of school life.

Competitions that inspire every child

Across the year, your child will take part in a wide mix of house competitions that tap into different strengths, talents and interests.

Sporting competitions

From athletics and swimming to year-group tournaments, our sporting competitions are designed to build teamwork, physical confidence and healthy challenge. With 60+ teams competing across the school, there is always something to get involved in. We also host a flagship cross-country event that our whole school gets involved in, with house points up for grabs!

Creative & performing arts events

House song, drama challenges, art competitions and themed days give our pupils the chance to perform, create and express themselves, even those who do not always see themselves as “performers.”

To inspire creativity, we also hold an annual whole-school house art competition with a new theme each year. Each winner will collect points for their house for each entry, and they are selected by our Head and Head of Art.

These whole-school events sit within the school's established programme of focus days and creative curriculum opportunities.

Academic & enquiry-based challenges

From quizzes to research tasks and themed focus days where pupils work toward a shared goal, our students practise critical thinking, curiosity and teamwork.

Community & philanthropy initiatives

Pupils regularly work together to support charities and community causes, reflecting the school’s philanthropic strand and commitment to empathy, awareness and proactivity.

Leadership opportunities

Older pupils have the chance to step up as house captains, supporting younger year groups and setting the tone for teamwork, fair play and school spirit. These roles form part of the wider leadership pathway across Rose Hill School, including our school council, eco committee and anti-bullying roles.

A supportive, joyful part of school life

House life adds energy and excitement to every term. It helps children form friendships across the school, build confidence in new situations and feel proud of their contribution whether they are scoring goals, singing on stage or cheering their team from the sidelines.
