Year 5 trip to Canterbury Cathedral
Year 5 enjoyed a fully immersive outing to Canterbury Cathedral this week. Whilst touring the Cathedral, they each were given a costume to match their role and re-enacted the events surrounding the death of Thomas Becket. This really brought history alive and allowed the pupils to empathise with how the arch bishop, the monks, the pilgrims the soldiers, the King and Queen all reacted to what was going on around them. The artefacts that they all made were not only super souvenirs but they reinforced the historic stories they had been told. The pupils were amazed at the size of such a grand building and many were impressed by the awe and wonder of this impressive religious place of worship.
