HeadLines, Friday 22 March
Dear Parents,
It has been a wonderfully innovative term: with plenty of hard work being completed across all groups and an engaging, lively approach to lessons that has continued to bring the school to life. The teachers have ensured to extend and inspire the children with challenge questions around each creative curriculum or project topic to help them dive deeper, reflect and find out more. The children have improved their own understanding of how they are doing by asking them to reflect upon their learning and giving them a chance to self-evaluate and set their own targets.
Congratulations to our performers in our Recital Concert who performed with such confidence and skill on Tuesday. How lovely to see such a wide variety of instruments and musical styles, from many beginners to experienced performers.
Our Food inspired House Art Competition is, as ever, full of the most amazing creations from pupils right across the school and the exhibition is in the Atrium. Thank you to Mrs Moore and all the supporting staff, pupils, and parents.
Our Lower School’s marvellous Spring Assembly showcased their learning through music and prose. We were taken on Year 1s ‘whizzing along journey’ on buses, aeroplanes and trains, along with their superb visit to Chatham Docks. Year 2 shared their experience of Australia, with a climb to the top of Uluru and a delve into the coral reef. Their exploration into culture and languages was amazing.
All of the children in Year 6 planned and ran their fundraising activities this week with parent netball, art classes, choral singing and cake sales and events for pupils across the school as part of their philanthropic Year 6 projects. The Scouts also ran the Dr Tuck Shop and sold out of sweets before 5pm! Thank you to Mrs Wren for your passion and enthusiasm and thank you to all the parents who supported these excellent events and to the pupils who organised them.
As always, our biggest thanks go to the parents at Rose Hill School, who continue to support the school and celebrate in all the children’s individual strengths and talents. This is perhaps one of the strongest features of our school and I feel it is so important. With plenty of opportunities to collaborate, communicate and perform, the children really do grow in confidence each term and these experiences help to nurture a love of learning and desire to keep trying and embrace challenge!
Thank you in particular to the Parents’ Association, who lead from the front and have dedicated their time to organising some fantastic events, and your gift of chocolate eggs. All monies are going towards new iPads to support the development of the Innovation Hub.
Wishing you all a spring like Easter break with family and friends.
Best wishes,
Emma Neville
