HeadLines, Friday 9 February
Dear Parents,
This week we have celebrated our learning in so many ways. Thanks to Thomas and Alfred for their singing performances in assembly – they were remarkable.
Over the years, Safer Internet Day has become a landmark event in our school’s calendar. Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns whilst celebrating technology. This week Mrs Scarbrough shared with pupils the increasing importance of safety and appropriate behaviour when online. If you have concerns about your child, do contact us directly as we are here to help.
The Junior Production of Shrek Jr. has rightly dominated school life this week. The pupils performed with great confidence and maturity. The cast have worked really hard in rehearsals and their efforts paid off as the result was an enchanting production with some standout stage performances. The set design transported the audience to Princess Fiona’s turret or Lord Farquaad’s castle. The moral lesson being, that it’s important to accept people who are different; and Shrek, who is the green-hued ogre, definitely qualifies as different! Our talented cast kept the audience spellbound with their story-telling, exceptional singing and dancing. A huge well done to Years 3-5 for a fantastic production, supported by the many dedicated staff back stage including Miss Styles, Mrs Harrod and Mrs Nicoll.
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year, is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in Chinese culture. It marks the beginning of the lunar new year and is a time for family reunions, cultural festivities, and the welcoming of a new year with hope and optimism. This year the celebrations start on 10 February – so we wish you all 新年快乐 / 新年快樂 (Xīnnián kuàilè), and I wish you all a very happy half term.
Best wishes
Emma Neville
