HeadLines, Friday 6 October
Dear Parents,
We are excited to share with you the strides we continue to make in equipping our pupils with the knowledge and skills that will serve as the foundation for their future success through our curriculum ‘Compass’. In the Prep School, we held our first Focus Day of the year, where your children get to dive deeper into the curriculum. Focus Days are an integral part to the teaching curriculum, not an addition to it. Pupils start the day with a question or problem and spend the day working collaboratively to a conclusion. Often trips and visiting speakers are part of the day.
Today Year 3 are in the science lab studying magnets; Year 4 through RS ask the question ‘How is Sukkot celebrated in Judaism?’; Year 5 are combining DT and art to make charcoal; Year 6 are in Geography looking at the effects of inequality and Year 7 & 8 have a ‘Mock United Nations Day’ with much debate!
Part of our social responsibility is to support vulnerable children in our local community and beyond. Shortly, pupils will be supporting children across Europe through the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. Thank you for your support for our ongoing partnership and legacy to these projects.
Next week is our annual STEAM Week, I would like to emphasise the importance of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) education, along with the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, in our ‘Compass’ curriculum. I look forward to sharing some of the highlights of the week with you in coming weeks.
Finally, and not least, we send Miss Copp on her way as she relocates with her partner with our best wishes for the future. Congratulations to Miss Mimi who got engaged to her long-term partner Jaroslav earlier this week – we wish them every happiness.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
Emma Neville
