HeadLines, Friday 3 May
Dear Parents,
Did you know that humans kill over 100 million sharks every year…? Science Week opened with an introduction to shark life from Mr Agnew. This week we have driven our support towards the Shark Trust https://www.sharktrust.org/ with sponsored swims and fundraising stalls at pick up.
The ‘Shark Competition’ involves creating a short media film on why we should protect sharks. Our chicks are hatching and doing well and there is an opportunity to adopt them, more details can be found on both the competition and adopt-a-chick in the newsletter. My thanks to Mr Agnew for all of the special events.
Last Friday Rose Hill School took part in the National Schools Dry Slopes Final. Well done to Gabriel and Charlotte in their respective categories, their combined performance meant that we won the National Junior School Title. We look forward to presenting them with their silverware soon!
Congratulations to Year 5 who have all had their creative writing published and received their certificates. Well done to all of them for their efforts.
Next week is Wellness Week, where our focus is on Mind and Soul. We warmly welcome Rev Tom Nash who will open the week with a spiritual assembly. In addition, we have a vast range of specialists booked to provide parents with guidance in this ever-changing world. We hope that you find something that is of interest, but if you do have any further thoughts please do let us know. In advance of this special week, I would like to offer my thanks to a number of staff, particularly Mrs Rowton and Mrs Scarbrough for pulling the week together.
On Tuesday we also have an informal choral concert starting at 5pm; this is in preparation for a unique opportunity of performing in the IAPS Music Festival on 14 May, which is taking place at Benenden School. We hope to see many of you there.
Wishing you all a lovely Bank Holiday.
Best wishes,
Emma Neville
