HeadLines, Friday 26 May

Date Posted: Friday 26 May 2023

Dear Parents,

Involvement and engagement are key to success and they bring us together – as seen at Founder’s Day! Community spirit was abundant. This event helps to build stronger community spirit, celebrating the School’s successes. This occasion was the perfect event to open our new pond, named Arcadia (a place to sit and ponder). We are grateful to you, and the Parents’ Association, along with the staff, particularly Mr Sellors, Mr Agnew and pupils for their designs. Thank you to James Saunders, our Vice Chair of Governors, for officially opening the pond and for his kind words.

Thank you to all of the pupils for their marvellous performances in music, dancing, sport and drama on the field and in the theatre. Well done to the PA, especially Mrs Dellar and Mrs Cureton, and the team for all of their hard work. And to all of parents and alumni for your continued support. Finally, and certainly not least, to all of the staff for the sheer volume of preparation. The school looked splendid!

Year 1 enjoyed a wonderful exploration of the Wildlife Centre on Tuesday spotting hedgehogs and owls.

If you were fortunate enough to attend the Senior Concert on Thursday evening, then I am sure you are still humming and tapping the tunes. What an astonishing and memorable event, showcasing a wide variety of music, played by very talented and confident pupils. So many pupils took part in the concert, with an ever-growing orchestra, rock group, choir and soloists all having fun. Thank you to all of the staff, visiting music teachers, Mr and Mrs Curtis, Mrs Quiney and especially Mrs Harrod for such an excellent evening.

4R shared their learning and understanding of the Stone Age in assembly this morning, imparting knowledge of their workshop, as well as ‘Stig of the Dump’ through fun and sometimes disgusting facts and song! Well done to 4R, Dr Tuck, Mrs Harrod and Miss Roberts, for all of your hard work. Thank you to the parents for supporting us.

Year 2 and 5 were able to invite their grandparents or special family friends to afternoon tea this afternoon to mark the Coronation. Thank you to all of the staff, including the catering team for their hard work.

Wishing you all a very sunny half term. We look forward to seeing you on Monday 5 June.

Best wishes,

Emma Neville

Head
