HeadLines, Friday 26 April
Dear Parents,
As a School we have definitely hit the ground running with a full week of activities under our belt. Last Sunday our Cubs and Scouts marked St George’s Day with the annual district’s gathering. There were nearly 1,000 Cubs and Scouts present which was a fantastic community gathering, if not a little chilly for late April!
Our Compass curriculum is underway and the last couple of days have demonstrated excellent examples of our high-quality level of ‘hands-on approach’ with interactive learning. Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic trip to The Observatory Science Centre at Herstmonceux where they loved the science show. Reception spent a day dressed as pirates and mermaids as an introduction to their new Creative Curriculum topic Under the Sea and Year 1 enjoyed the launch of a new Club, LEGO Spike. To keep up to date with everyday School life please do follow us on social media. All the links can be found in the Newsletter.
Next week is Science Week, our focus this year are sharks. I am sure it will be a very enlightening week!
Our annual Wellness Week starts after the Bank Holiday on 7 May. We have a full timetable of activities for the children and parents. Full details and how to book can be found in the Newsletter. We hope you will be able to join us for some, if not all of the activities!
Weaving throughout the term, we have started our cricket and athletics season, along with a number of tennis matches. Keep an eye on Spond for notifications as this will inform you of the location and finish times of matches.
We have a group of budding athletes who are taking part in the Schools Triathlon at Sevenoaks School on 12 May. To help them along the way we are supporting their fundraising effort with a sweet stall on Friday afternoons at pick up over the next couple of weeks. We wish them all luck!
It was great to meet so many parents this morning at the new term breakfast. Our next event is Coffee Connections on 10 May. Please do drop in for a chat and meet up with staff and parents.
Best wishes,
Emma Neville
