HeadLines, Friday 24 May
Dear Parents,
Thank you to the whole school community for your support at our fantastic Founder’s Day last Saturday. I hope you had the opportunity to watch your Prep School child take part in different activities and thank you to the many PrePrep families who attended the event too. My thanks to all of the pupils for their marvellous performances in music, dancing, sport and drama, and the work in the art room, science lab and classrooms. Events like this helps us to build a stronger community spirit, and celebrate the pupils’ and School’s successes. Finally, and certainly not least, to all of the staff for the sheer volume of preparation. The School looked splendid!
This week we have celebrated ‘Walk to School Week’, we managed to dodge most of the rain and thank you to the many families who took part. As a school we make a concerted effort to walk each day and reduce our environmental footprint where we can, please support the cause and continue as much as you are able.
Our week has started with a tremendous Focus Day in the Prep School. Hands-on education is transformative, offering pupils an immersive learning experience that bridges theory and practice. By engaging directly with materials and real-world problems, pupils develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of subject matter. This active learning approach fosters curiosity, creativity, and a love for lifelong learning. It also accommodates diverse learning styles, ensuring every child can thrive. At Rose Hill School, we are committed to providing dynamic, hands-on educational opportunities that prepare our students for future success in an ever-evolving world. For example, Year 3 were immersed in Japanese studies, Year 4 were out in the wilderness creating their own land art using the materials around them and Year 5 experienced an excellent Tudor workshop. Year 7 were critically thinking about the spiritual nourishment places of worship offer society. Whilst PrePrep pupils might not experience Focus Days in exactly the same way, they are already immersed in this experience with visits to the woodland, to the British Wildlife Centre and Hasting Aquarium
This morning 4TB performed a fantastic assembly to the whole school and many of their parents. It was wonderful to see how much they have learnt about their creative curriculum topic, the Titanic. Well done to 4TB Mrs O’Kane and Mr Blakeway, for all of your hard work.
Year 2 and 5 were able to invite their Grandparents or special family friends to Afternoon Tea this afternoon. This looks to be a really special event. Thank you to all of the staff, including the catering team for their hard work.
Wishing you all a very sunny and restful half term. We look forward to seeing you on Monday 3 June for a very busy final half term.
Best wishes,
Emma Neville
