Dear Parents,

Welcome to this week’s Headlines, where I’ll be sharing some highlights from our school community. It has been an eventful week at Rose Hill School, filled with learning opportunities and meaningful engagements. Let’s dive in!

Refugee Week: This week, we had the privilege of marking Refugee Week, an important initiative aimed at promoting understanding and empathy towards refugees. Our pupils truly embraced the theme and participated in meaningful discussion. Year 2 read about refugees and thought carefully about the impact on their lives. We looked at how we could foster a sense of compassion and appreciation for diverse experiences. Pupils engaged in thoughtful conversations, exploring the challenges faced by refugees and how we can make a positive impact as a community. The week’s events left a lasting impression on our pupils, reminding them of the importance of kindness, inclusivity, and understanding in today’s world.

Focus Day Learning: On Monday, our pupils had the opportunity to immerse themselves in our unique and exciting learning experience during our Focus Day. The purpose of these special days is to delve deeper into specific subjects, fostering curiosity and encouraging exploration. Our enthusiastic teaching staff designed a wide range of engaging projects and activities, enabling pupils to explore various areas of interest. Over the year we have delivered hands-on experiments in science to artistic creations, coding challenges, rambling through woodlands and historical re-enactments, our pupils showcased their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The energy and enthusiasm throughout the day were palpable, and we were impressed by the incredible work produced.

Thank you to all the parents who have contributed so positively to our sustainability drive, and to the parents who have come forward with further expertise. Once these meetings have taken place, we will look to brief you further following the Autumn Term Parent Advisory Group meeting.

Upcoming Events: Looking ahead, we have an exciting line-up of events to anticipate. Our senior school production of Macbeth is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to see our talented pupils take the stage to showcase their dramatic abilities. We are also preparing for our annual sports days, where pupils will participate in friendly competitions, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship. Please keep an eye on our school calendar for further details and updates.

Finally, I want to express my gratitude to our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and enthusiastic pupils who make Rose Hill School a vibrant and nurturing learning environment. Together, we are creating opportunities for growth, fostering a love for learning, and empowering our pupils to become compassionate and responsible global citizens. We have celebrated some excellent sporting achievements, congratulations to Oscar and Charlotte. Well done to Toby and Quan who played in assembly. Year 1 shared their dinosaur project with us this morning, through painting, prose and dance! It was totally terrific, and their presentation voices were very confident. Thank you to Mrs Parker!

For all of you camping out tonight, have a super evening, and hopefully a good night’s sleep under the stars!

Best wishes,

Emma Neville
