HeadLines, Friday 17 May

Dear Parents,

Our continued success is enabled by the huge support from so many sectors of our community, and throughout our newsletter there are many examples of where people going the ‘extra mile’. Pupils benefit from the most exceptional opportunities and experiences as a result. A wonderful example of staff dedication this week was recognising our resident Brownie ‘Brown Owl’, Wendy Izzard, for her thirty years of service to Girlguiding. She was visited by the commissioner in recognition of her service.

WOW – what a special Wellness Week. So many brilliant activities for the children and parents to take part in. Esther Obiri-Darko’s presentation on ‘Rupture & Repair’ was extraordinary, full of insightful aspects on how to repair relationships. A copy of her presentation was sent to you all this morning, it is certainly worth reading.

Well done to our valiant cricketers who played so well last Saturday, exceptional skill and sportsmanship demonstrated throughout. Well done to all our triathlon competitors for doing so well last weekend. Thank you to all the parents and staff for your support.

The stand out event this week, was Chamber Choir singing at the first-ever ‘IAPS Festival of Singing’, held at Benenden’s Centenary Hall. With a spiritual moment of complete silence before they performed there was not a dry eye in the house by the end. Huge thanks to Mrs Harrod, who not only prepared our choir, but orchestrated the entire event on behalf of IAPS. A recording of Rose Hill School singing can be found in the newsletter.

Mr Stacey introduced our Cultural Diversity Week, with a stunning assembly on Monday and we finished with an Olympian themed assembly for French Day this morning. Thank you to our Year 5 pupils who performed to Rock Band. Today the school quad has been transformed into a French café serving pastries and the playing fields have been busy with petanque. Thank you also to Cripps and to the many parents who have supported our careers and enrichment curriculum with Year 7&8 this year.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow at our Founder’s Day celebration, marking the School’s 192nd Birthday. This is a celebration of past, present and future with demonstrations, exhibits, zorbing, and performances all around the school. Thank you to all of the pupils, staff and parents for their support. I look forward to seeing you there and hope that the weather holds.

Best wishes,

Emma Neville
