Dear Parents,

Compass, our bespoke curriculum at Rose Hill School is designed to guide your child’s educational journey, ensuring they navigate through their formative years with confidence and purpose. Our curriculum is uniquely tailored to meet the diverse needs and interests of each pupil, fostering a love for learning and a passion for discovery.

At the core of Compass is a commitment to holistic education. We blend academic excellence with character development, through our 5 keys to success & happiness, ensuring our pupils not only excel in their studies but also grow into well-rounded individuals. Our approach integrates innovative teaching methods with traditional values, providing a balanced and enriching learning experience. A great example of this was on Tuesday evening, when our brilliant Year 4 pupils sang to a packed audience on the stage at the Assembly Halls. Well done to all of Year 4, thank you and Mrs Harrod for all of your hard work! It was wonderful.

Compass offers a broad range of subjects and co-curricular activities, allowing pupils to explore their interests and talents. From advanced STEM courses such as our Green Goblins, to creative arts, every aspect of our curriculum is designed to inspire and challenge. A brilliant example of this was the Year 7 & 8 visit to the “trench experience” at Detling this week. In the 21st Century it is difficult for us to imagine the horror of daily life in the trenches but our pupils were able to get some idea of the conditions they were living in as thousands of men ate, slept, lived, fought and died in the miles of trenches that stretched across the Western Front.

We have a very busy final three weeks of term. We have our final Prep School Focus Day, Orchestral Week, with two concerts to enjoy. Our school senior production of Singin’ in the Rain is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to see our talented pupils take the stage to showcase their dramatic abilities. We are also preparing for our annual sports days, where pupils will participate in friendly competitions, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship. Please keep an eye on our school calendar for further details and updates.

We believe that education is a partnership between the school and parents. Your involvement and support are crucial to the success of Compass. It was great to see so many Year 2 parents join us for the class’s wonderful assembly on ‘Change’ as they have been preparing themselves for their transition into Middle School. Not only had they thought about how this might make them feel; they are also looking forward to the many opportunities that are ahead! They have thought about their 5 keys to success and happiness and also about how they might contribute to positive change when they are invited to School Council, Eco or the Anti-Bullying Committees.

Best wishes,

Emma Neville
