HeadLines, Friday 28 March

Date Posted: Friday 28 March 2025

Dear Parents,

We started the week with an Easter assembly where Rev Nash delivered a compelling Easter message to our pupils, reminding them of the significance of this time of year, and God’s love is with us all, as we start the Easter holidays. Thank you to Caden and Max for their solo performances.

What a term we have had! The teachers have extended and inspired the children with challenging questions around each creative curriculum or project topic to help them dive deeper, reflect and find out more. The children have improved their own understanding of their progress by reflecting upon their learning and setting their own targets. I was so very impressed by Year 6 on Monday when presenting their philanthropic humanity projects. It was great to hear the detail of their studies and the connections they had made. Year 6’s philanthropic project fundraising is dedicated to Wateraid. All of the children in Year 6 planned and ran their fundraising activities this week, from parent netball, art classes, hot chocolate, choral singing and swimming sessions and events for pupils across the school. Thank you to all of the staff for running extra workshops. A huge ‘Thank you’ to Mrs Wren for your drive and enthusiasm and thank you to all the parents who supported these excellent events and to the pupils who organised them.

Year 3 have had the most extra-ordinary opportunity to interact with Amazonian villagers and hear about everyday childhood lives as they finish their rainforest studies. Thank you to Mr Hill for facilitating such a wonderful experience.
The Early Years wowed us with their Spring Assembly, an event filled with song and prose as they shared their learning from the term. It was wonderful occasion, and most delightful to see our youngest pupils confident on stage. We also celebrated with Lower School’s marvellous Spring Assembly which showcased their learnings from the term including the absolutely amazing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes! We were taken on Year 1s ‘globetrotting’ world trip, looking at important sites across the world, that the pupils chose. Year 2 shared their experience of Australasia, with a detailed look at the devastation of bush fire as well as the artwork of the Aboriginal culture. Their exploration into culture and languages was amazing.

As always, our biggest thanks go to you the parents, who continue to support the school and celebrate in all the children’s individual strengths and talents. This is perhaps one of the strongest features of our school. With plenty of opportunities to collaborate, communicate and perform, the children really do grow in confidence each term and these experiences help to nurture a love of learning and desire to keep trying and embrace challenge!

Thank you in particular to the Parents’ Association: with boundless energy they have dedicated their time to organising some fantastic events this term and a final easter treat for all children. The money raised is going towards new music equipment and to support Science Week with a planetarium experience for all pupils in the summer term.
As we step into the Easter season, we celebrate a time of renewal, hope, and joy. This special time reminds us of the importance of kindness, gratitude, and togetherness. Whether you are enjoying family traditions, reflecting on new beginnings, or simply taking a well-earned rest, we hope your holiday is filled with happiness. To our pupils—keep your curiosity alive and return refreshed for more exciting learning ahead. To our community — thank you for your ongoing support. Wishing you all a peaceful and joyful Easter.

Best wishes,

Emma Neville
