HeadLines, Friday 27 June

Date Posted: Friday 27 June 2025

Dear Parents,

Last Friday evening saw Year 5 enjoy their overnight visit to Chatham Dockyard after an exploration of the museum and site. Thank you to all for such an amazing opportunity. This week we have seen many highlights and have much to celebrate. 5T’s assembly on comparing and contrasting historic times from the Aztecs to the Tudors was full of insight and well-timed humour. On Tuesday we enjoyed the EYFS and Lower School Sports Days. It was wonderful to see sporting skills develop in our youngest pupils, with their safari of field activities and track events. Once again, a huge thank you to Mr Hinchliffe and all the staff involved. We were also very impressed with Year 7&8 who supported our youngest pupils with their sporting endeavours. On Focus Day Year 5 set off to Cuckmere to tread the river bed, Year 4 stepped back into the Stone Age with a furry workshop and Year 3 completed their Japanese studies with a sushi banquet.

If you were fortunate enough to experience our Senior Production of Oliver!, you will know that it was nothing short of magical. A vibrant celebration of talent, creativity, and collaboration, Oliver! demonstrated the very best of what can be achieved when pupils and staff come together with passion and purpose. From the very first note to the final bow, the production was a triumph. The performances sparkled with energy and character, the choreography was executed with precision and flair, and the set design transformed the stage into a world that was as immersive as it was imaginative. Every element spoke volumes of the hard work, dedication, and artistic excellence poured into the show. A huge round of applause must go to our phenomenal cast and crew, whose commitment brought the story to life with humour, heart, and unforgettable one-liners. Your ability to engage and enchant your audience was truly exceptional. I would also like to offer deepest thanks to our wonderful staff, especially Mrs Nicoll, Mrs Harrod and Miss Orr, whose guidance, vision, and unwavering support made the production possible. Your expertise and enthusiasm were instrumental in elevating this performance to such a professional standard. For one unforgettable week, the West End took up residence at Rose Hill School – and what a performance it was!

Year 1 also took to the stage and performed their year group assembly based on this terms project on dinosaurs through song and dance! Thank you to everyone for being so brave and for sharing all of your hard work!

Today sees our annual Prep School Sports Day … I look forward to seeing many of you there. In advance, a huge thank you to Mr Hinchliffe and the staff for all of their hard work in ensuring that it runs so smoothly. Thank you for all of your support with the many events this week. Thank you to all the staff who have gone the extra mile.

Next week we have Transition Day. It is vital we prepare our children for change, and it is an important skill to know how to ‘manage’ change and the emotions that come along with it. We increase our focus on transition to a new school or new year group and class. We are also preparing for the future; as we come to the end of an academic year it is inevitable that change is on the horizon. At this point, many families consider purchasing a mobile phone for their children as they transition to their new schools or into Year 6. Our pupils do not need a mobile phone to access their learning, as we have plenty of high-tech resources at school. Therefore, we really encourage you to avoid smart phones at this young age, please do talk to Mrs Scarbrough for advice.

Good luck to the Green Goblins racing at Goodwood on Sunday!

Best wishes,

Emma Neville
