HeadLines, Friday 23 May
Dear Parents,
We ended last week on a high with our wonderful Founder’s Day celebrations. Thank you all for your support in making it such a memorable occasion. We hope you enjoyed seeing your Prep School child taking part in the wide range of activities on offer. Our pupils shone in every corner of the School, from energetic performances in music, dance, sport and drama on the Astro, to impressive displays of creativity and curiosity in the art room, science lab and classrooms. Their enthusiasm and effort were a joy to witness.
We then transitioned to the field, where we couldn’t have looked more summery, for the Parents’ Association Summer Fair. Events like Founder’s Day are powerful reminders of how engagement and shared experience strengthen our sense of community and provide a chance to celebrate the talents and achievements of our pupils and the School as a whole. A final word of thanks must go to our dedicated staff, Parents’ Association and community, whose careful planning and tireless preparation brought the day to life. We are hugely mindful that these events do not happen by accident, they happed due to the dedicated volunteers who step forward. It was magnificent.
For ‘Walk to School Week’, we almost dodged all of the rain! Thank you to the many families taking part. As a school we make a concerted effort to walk each day and reduce our environmental footprint where we can, please support the cause and continue as much as you are able.
Monday morning saw 4A acting out the brilliant story ‘A Squash and a Squeeze’ by Julie Donaldson! When the old lady finally manages to push the farm animals all out again, she’s amazed at how big her house feels, and she comes to realise that it’s precisely the right size for her. A Squash and a Squeeze is a brilliantly funny story with an important moral about being grateful for what we have. Well done to 4A for reminding us of the importance of being grateful and thankful for all the things we have and experience. Thank you to Mrs Amos for all of your hard work.
Well done to our Year 6 debaters who enjoyed a trip down to Eastbourne College this week, a fantastic experience for all involved. Well done!
Year 2 and 5 were able to invite their Grandparents or special family friends to Afternoon Tea to mark VE Day this afternoon, what a special event. Thank you to all of the staff, including the catering team for their hard work.
Wishing you all a very sunny and restful half term. We look forward to seeing you on Monday 2 June for an end of term filled with events!
Best wishes,
Emma Neville
