HeadLines, Friday 20 September
Dear Parents,
I am delighted to announce the appointment of our new pupil leaders to key committees within our School: the School Council, the Anti-Bullying Committee, and the Eco Committee. These pupils have been selected for their enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to represent their peers, and we are confident they will help drive positive change within our School community.
The School Council will continue its vital role in giving pupils a platform to share their ideas, ensuring that pupil voice is heard in key decisions. This helps foster a sense of responsibility and ownership in the School’s direction. Equally, our Anti-Bullying Committee will work to ensure that our School remains a safe and supportive environment for all. By promoting kindness and respect, they will play an important part in safeguarding the wellbeing of every student. They will be promoting the NSPCCs Buddy strategy ‘Speak out, Stay Safe’.
Our Eco Committee will focus on sustainability and environmental awareness, tackling important issues such as reducing waste and promoting eco-friendly practices. Their work will not only benefit our School but also contribute to the wider community and environment.
In alignment with the Fundamental British Values of democracy, mutual respect, and individual liberty, these roles encourage pupils to develop essential life skills. By participating in these committees, pupils will learn the importance of working collaboratively, respecting diverse opinions, and making a meaningful impact through action.
We are proud to empower our pupils to take on leadership roles, ensuring their voices are at the heart of our School. I look forward to seeing the positive contributions they will make in the coming months.
Thank you to Rory and Elodie for their solo performances that kick started our week, to the U11 St Michael football players for all of their hard work. We had so many opportunities to celebrate pupils’ achievements, with raffle tickets for positive behaviour and also to all the pupils who were awarded 5 keys for their confidence, resilience, perseverance, persistence, organisation and getting-along!
On Friday we celebrated Harvest Festival. Thank you for the large volume of food contributions that will go towards St Matt’s Community Larder and for Reverend Nash for leading the assembly.
Best wishes,
Emma Neville
