HeadLines, Friday 16 May
Dear Parents,
What a totally terrific weekend of activities! Firstly, well done to Year 4 and their sleepover. What an excellent way to prepare your child for a future with little opportunities for growing independence. Thank you to all of Year 4 for their excellent behaviour and great resilience. Huge thanks to the Year 4 staff and catering team!
Our Colts A cricketers played hard at the T10 cricket tournament on Saturday, exceptional skill and sportsmanship demonstrated throughout. Then on Sunday, 68 Triathletes competed at the event hosted at Sevenoaks School raising a huge sum of money for the charity Restless Development.
We had a fantastic start to the week from 4HA who gave us a brilliant Newsround style documentary on the last hours of Titanic’s tragic journey. Well done 4HA for sharing what you have learnt.
Today we have enjoyed a fantastic Focus Day -with trips to Pett Level and Wilderness Wood, dived into our IPQ research projects, investigated the Mary Rose, planned a trip to France and studied Japanese spiritual rituals.
Continuing from Wellness Week, Orchestral Week has provided our pupils with mindful music appreciation each morning. The standout event this week was instrumentalists performing with over 160 players at the first-ever ‘IAPS D2 Orchestral Concert’, held at Benenden’s Centenary Hall. Huge thanks to Mrs Harrod, who not only prepared our pupils, but orchestrated the entire event on behalf of IAPS.
Our continued success is enabled by the huge support from so many sectors of our community, and throughout the newsletter there are many examples of where people are going the ‘extra mile’. Pupils benefit from the most exceptional opportunities and experiences as a result.
On that note, I am truly looking forward to seeing you all at our amazing ‘Founder’s Day’ tomorrow marking the School’s 193rd Birthday, celebrating the past, present and future of Rose Hill School. This year we have a spectacular Summer Fair planned by the Parents Association – please look out for your timetable of events.
See you all tomorrow!
Best wishes,
Emma Neville
