HeadLines, Friday 14 February

Date Posted: Friday 14 February 2025

Dear Parents,

What a great way to start our performing arts week with Maria singing and Richard playing the piano in assembly on Monday. Over the years, Safer Internet Day has become a landmark event in our school’s calendar. Safer Internet Day 2025 will take place on the 11 February 2025, with learning based around the theme ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online’.  Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns whilst celebrating technology. This week Mrs Scarbrough shared with pupils the increasing importance of safety when online. If you have concerns about your child, do contact us directly as we are here to help.

The Junior Production of Alice has rightly dominated school life this week. The pupils performed with great confidence and maturity. The cast had worked really hard in rehearsals and their efforts paid off as the result was an enchanting production with some standout stage performances. The set design transported the audience to Alice’s wonderland. Our talented cast and crew kept the audience spellbound with their story-telling. Productions are one of the most amazing learning journeys, and all the pupils will have something very special to remember, as will we. A huge well done to Years 3-5 for a fantastic production, supported by the many dedicated staff including Miss Styles, Mrs Harrod and Mrs Nicoll.

Lower School celebrated their learning in assembly this morning, with some wonderful anecdotes from their creative curriculum. Year 1 have flown round the world with a wonderful story, Emma Jane’s Aeroplane; they shared their exploration of cities and cultures. Aria and Betty have taught the classes songs in Chinese and Welsh.  Year 2 took us down under; as they have discovered the geography of Oceania and the impact of climate change. Well done to all of Year 1 and 2, and to the teachers. Such as terrific way to end half term.

I wish you all a very happy half term.

Best wishes,

Emma Neville
