HeadLines, Friday 11 October
Dear Parents,
This past week has been an incredibly exciting time for our pupils as we celebrated STEAM Week, focused on the fascinating theme of Super Structures. Our aim throughout the week has been to inspire curiosity and creativity while deepening pupils’ understanding of how science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) come together to shape the world we live in.
What We’ve Been Up To: Each year group has had the opportunity to explore different aspects of structural engineering and design. From creating bridges and towers to examining the wonders of architecture both past and present, our pupils have been fully immersed in hands-on learning experiences. Pupils took their engineering skills to the next level by constructing earthquake-resistant buildings. Using classroom simulations, they tested how their designs would hold up during seismic activity.
Why Super Structures? At the heart of this week’s theme is the idea that structures—whether they are bridges, buildings, or sculptures—are not only functional but also an art form. By exploring the creative and technical sides of structural design, pupils have gained a deeper appreciation for how the built environment impacts our lives. They’ve learned how architects and engineers use both science and art to design structures that are not only strong and durable but also beautiful.
Looking Ahead: We’re thrilled by the enthusiasm our pupils have shown during STEAM Week, and we look forward to continuing this momentum throughout the term. As always, we encourage you to ask your child about what they’ve learned this week and perhaps even explore some fun building projects at home. Thank you to Mr Agnew and Mr Izzard.
Thank you to all parents and members of our community for your contributions to our PA Cook Book – please look in the newsletter for information on how to purchase your own copy!
New week we look forward to two big School events – House Song Competition and Run & Ramble!
Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement. Together, we are building not just strong structures but strong minds, ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow.
Wishing you a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
Emma Neville
