Last week, our school’s budding entrepreneurs in Years 7 and 8 took a break from the usual routine to dive into the exciting world of business in a special off-timetable event: Dragons’ Den Day. On Focus Day on Monday, all the senior pupils pitched their innovative ideas to a panel of “Dragons,” aiming to secure funding in exchange for a share of their companies.

The pitches were full of energy and fresh ideas, with products ranging from the Pickey Pen, a multifunctional pen designed for convenience and versatility, to a modified wheelchair aimed at improving accessibility. Tech-savvy innovators introduced Fashion Guru, a revolutionary fashion app, while sports enthusiasts presented Rollitbank, a football bounce-back net with a ramp designed to enhance training sessions. Another standout idea came from Hic Fix, a company that developed a unique tablet designed to cure hiccups—a simple yet effective solution to a common problem. Meanwhile, food lovers were drawn to Crazy Chef, a dynamic catering company who will come and cook meals of your choice in your own home. 

The day wasn’t just about creativity—it was also about learning. The Dragons offered valuable advice to the young entrepreneurs, emphasising the importance of a realistic pricing structure to ensure both affordability and profit. They highlighted the need to identify a clear problem and then design a practical solution, a vital step for any successful business. For the app developers, the Dragons advised a “build once, deploy many times” approach, ensuring efficiency and scalability across platforms.

The teamwork on display was outstanding, with students collaborating seamlessly to refine their pitches. Their hard work paid off as they showcased catchy radio jingles, well-thought-out business plans, and even prepared engaging social media campaigns to market their ideas.

The day was a resounding success, with every team demonstrating impressive creativity, confidence, and business acumen. Well done to everyone involved for their exceptional effort and entrepreneurial spirit!
