Y6 trip to Newhaven Fort
Year 6 set off for Newhaven Fort on Tuesday morning and we were fortunate that it was a beautifully sunny day.
We made our way to the school room where Philip - who has been seeing Rose Hill pupils for the last 14 years - gave a short talk about the fort and about the Second World War exhibits on display. Clara was asked to operate a Second World War air-raid siren and created a huge amount of noise.
6L then went off to experience what it was like to sit through an air-raid and 6W quickly followed. Both classes then combined to sit through a 20 minute film on the History of the Fort. We were joined by a party of Senior Citizens for this film- which made Mr Long and Mr Booth Jones feel at home.
The two classes then separated to start work on the worksheets provided. One on “Life in the Second World War” and one on the fort itself. Year 6 worked hard on these and were a great year group to take out.
