Year 6 Trip to Newhaven Fort
On Tuesday the 8th of May, Year 6 set off for a wet and windy Sussex coast. They were heading for Newhaven Fort to continue their studies of the Second World War.
Built in Victorian times as a defence against the French, Newhaven Fort was used extensively in both the First and Second World Wars. Pupils took it in turns to go in the air raid shelter and experience what it was like to sit through a bombing raid. Then after a 20 minute film about the history of the fort, we split into our form groups to find answers to worksheets based on the fort and the Second World War.
Weather conditions were pretty extreme but luckily most of the activities were indoors!
