Y4 trip to British Museum

Due to heavy traffic, we arrived at the British Museum a bit later than expected. We headed straight for the Education Centre to store our bags and get the first worksheet. This was based on Gallery 4 where Y4 had to look for 6 different hieroglyphs that were on the exhibits. They also had to look out for the Rosetta Stone and the statue of the Mighty Ramesses. After a busy 45 minutes we returned to the Education Centre for an early lunch. Next stop was the lecture theatre for a talk on the “Journey to the After Life.” The lady doing the talk was very good and got lots of Rose Hill pupils up on stage to help her. We then set off for the Egyptian galleries on the second floor. These contained the collection of Egyptian mummies. Y4 were excellent finding out information for their worksheets. Our coach driver was waiting for us outside the museum and we set off back to Rose Hill after a busy and enjoyable trip.

We arrived at Battle Abbey and were met by Brother James-an (imitation) Benedictine monk. He gave us an interesting tour of the school and Abbey grounds.
