Rose Hill School celebrates STEAM week
STEAM week has become an important and eagerly anticipated part of the autumn term and this year the theme for the week was ENERGY. Across the school pupils were learning about energy but in their normal lessons as well as in special STEAM focused sessions. For example in music Mrs Harrod used elastic bands and various containers to explore sound energy and the nature of sound. Mrs Moore was her usual energetic self and the pupils have produced some outstanding pieces of kinetic art – this topic will continue for some time across the year groups. In history Mr Booth-Jones has looked at the important work of James Watt – engineer and scientist. In maths the children have been studying how energy is charged and how bills work. We know children have been going home enthused about the week and have spoken at length about what they have been doing in school. Getting the children to engage at home over the kitchen table is one of the big aims of STEAM week and we think we have achieved this. Thank you to all parents who have backed this wonderful and unique school experience.

When we found out this year's Junior Production was 'Mary Poppins', we felt excited about what part we would get and how rehearsals would go. Rehearsals started straight away and we realised it wasn't going to be as easy as we thought! It was going to be tough and we would need to work very hard!

On Thursday, 9 November Year 7 went on an Art trip to the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne. After a bus journey to Eastbourne College we had a delicious lunch in their canteen. We then walked a short distance to the Towner Gallery which is located right next to the College. It wasn’t hard to miss as there was an amazing mural painted on the side of the building, in all sorts of shapes and colours, celebrating the Towner’s 10th Anniversary.
