Rose Hill School Pre-Prep celebrate Chinese New Year

The Pre-Prep celebrated Chinese New Year on Tuesday with a collective assembly in the Theatre. Each year group shared a different aspect of the celebration.
Kindergarten modelled some beautiful Chinese clothing traditionally worn for the New Year festival.
Reception told everyone about the different ingredients they used to make their Chinese meal. It was YUMMY.
Year 1 showed some art work of the Year of the Dog and explained the importance of the lion and dragon in the celebration. The children knew which animal represents the year they were born.
Year 2 re-enacted the Chinese Zodiac story. They told everyone about the Great Race across the river and why the 12 years are ordered and named as they are.

It’s been a busy week full of book related fun. To kick off Book Week The Library hosted a Book Hunt for the Prep School on Monday which saw the children hunting high and low for a selection of titles. On Tuesday it was Pre Prep’s turn as they took to the Astro to hunt for favourite book characters—I’m glad to say the glum weather did not dampen their high spirits! Prep School have been designing bookmarks during their library sessions with some fantastic designs created by our artistic pupils.
