The detailed Development Plan is an
important tool that guides the direction of certain key areas of the school:
All
staff are involved in the production of the Plan which first started in 1996
The main focuses of the
plan for this and the last five years are set out below (üindicates
completed items)

2007 - 2008 |
- To introduce a whole school management system to
record pupils' progress; to assist with report writing, tracking and
for use in administration tasks
- To develop and increases
pupils' abilities for independent learning through improved
Prep/Homework setting and monitoring
- To review reporting systems in
Pre-Prep and introduce new format for Early Years - including new
design for report cards
- To prepare for transfer of Art/Music/Drama/DT
into the New Millennium Block
- To evaluate needs for specific equipment and
resources for Home Economics for 08/09
- To initiate planning for extra
display facilities in the Millennium Block, including Foyer and
Atrium spaces
- To further increase awareness
of the Every Child Matters initiative. To continue with
comprehensive audit of all pupils from Year 1 to Year 8
- To introduce more speakers and staff to take
Assemblies
- To review and evaluate the RSAcademics research
into the Upper School, and to devise an action plan
- To evaluate usage of the Covered Way and Quad,
and to investigate designs to upgrade this area to balance with both
phases of the Millennium Project
- To continue to assess risks (Health & Safety) in
all activities and areas of the school, including fire training for
staff
- To review our compliance with the Disability
Discrimination Law and to upgrade practices and facilities as
necessary
- To acquire 9 more interactive
whiteboards for classrooms
- To improve lighting in the Car parks and to
increase parking spaces to balance those lost during the building
project
- To improve safety railings in the grounds and
repair external boundary fencing
- To recruit a second Playtime
Supervisor
- To instigate communication re teaching methods
and styles in respect of Parental Information
- To initiate new systems and personnel to assist
in the overall management and repair of the school buildings and
estate
- To produce an up-to-date History of Rose Hill in
celebration of 175 years as a School
- To review Rose Hill's audit in respect of the
Charity Commission, and to continue to monitor compliance with new
Government expectations
- To review and update selected policies as per

2006 - 2007

- To celebrate the 175th year of the founding of
Rose Hill School
- To celebrate the centenary of the founding of the
Cub Scout movement (Baden-Powell - Old Rose Hillian)
- To prepare for the ISC Inspection in November
2007
- To increase pastoral care systems (eg 'Buddies';
'Manners'; House System)
- To increase our technology support in the
teaching environment (eg 6 more interactive whiteboards in
classrooms; Library - audio visual centre; DVD players & digital
cameras)
- To complete the planning for phase 2 of the
Millennium Project - new buildings, temporary accommodation and
access ways - to start in July 2007
The new building will include:
a theatre & assembly hall (+ green room & props store); an Art room;
a Design & Technology centre; a Music room with 4 practice/teaching
rooms, and a senior pupils' common room with food technology
facilities. The tennis courts will also be extended
- To increase the large play
area equipment for use by Years 1-4
- To appoint a part-time consultant IT engineer
- To acquire a third minibus
- To introduce a wider selection of food choices at
lunchtime including a new chilled salad bar
- To install security gates around Pre-Prep play
areas / car park
- To carry out a tree safety audit, instigating a
programme of tree maintenance around the school grounds
- To appoint new personnel to run the School Shop
and improve its layout and working
- To update DDA and Charities Commission

through more Lower, Upper School & House Assemblies
- To acquire 5 new interactive whiteboards, and
also to identify next year's priorities for interactive whiteboards
in classrooms
- To continue the preparation and planning of Phase
2 of the Millennium Project (hopefully to start in July 2007)
- To improve Grounds and Site maintenance,
including the acquisition of a new tractor and gang mowers
- To improve Site Safety, including a safety
inspection of all trees within the School Grounds
- To improve markings and signage in the Car Parks
- To introduce new style PE & Games tracksuits,
including burgundy waterproofs for pupils
- To complete Admin Block improvements &
alterations - a new Surgery; Staff Changing facilities; Offices;
Meeting Room
- To install a new filtration unit for the Swimming
Pool
- To appoint new Staff -
Librarian; Secretary; Matron; 2nd Maintenance Officer; Cleaners
- To increase INSET for all
Staff on Health & Safety issues, and also teaching and learning

the Pre-Prep Shingle Area
